Hi Dan,
Don't know if you remember me - I was your Art Director at Dan's Papers for 10 years back in the late '70s and 80's. Now I'm living in Northern California's wine country where I work for the NYTimes-owned North Bay Business Journal.
Congratulations on your latest book. I am sure I will enjoy it as much as some of your earlier books that I helped you design and layout back in the old days of paste-up.
I don't get your paper to often these days but I do enjoy keeping connected through Dan's Papers newsletter and website. Keep up the good work!
- An x-employee but still a fan,
Susan Schreiner

Hi Dan,
I got your book from Amazon because I am a cheapskate. However, I gave you a 5 star rating.
Yes the book is that good. I grew up in Sag Harbor in the 50 and 60's and always looked forward each summer to reading your paper, the Sag Harbor Pilot. Your book captures an era on the East End I still long for. My favorite was local history stories. Example, the night it rained fish on Sag Harbor's Main Street by Rocco's Antique shop.
Take care,
Bruce

Dear Danny,

I'm in the book, at pp. 102-104 (the only cousin that made it!). What a great read. You really captured the early days of Montauk, which I remember well when we visited you in the "boonies." I hope you're well.

Jonny

P.S. Did you ever find the home movies of our families from the '50s-'60s?

Hello Dan,

I wonder if you remember my father, Ken Walsh. Back in the 60's he had a little art gallery in Montauk named Bonart. It was in a garage he rented at Gosman's Dock, between the old Harbor House and the Jetty Shop. My brother and I spent summer's there and I remember him speaking of you and your newspaper. I am happy to know you have written of that time and I plan to get your book.

My best to you, Dona

BRAVO! My husband and I travel out to East Hampton to get away from the city when life gets too crazy. I truly have enjoyed reading your book and learning more of the history of the area! Enjoy the summer and much success on your book tour!

Dan,
I now reside in Camden, NC with my wife and son. I grew up in Sag Harbor and graduated from ole Pierson High in 1976. I left the village many years agon on quite a life adventure but I always feel the tug of the Harbor calling for me to go home. Just wanted to extend a well wish to you. I recall, as a youngster, reading the "Dan's Papers". Back then, it was a small paper but very well read. It seems you have grown in stature over the years and for that you should be commended. Anyways, I was once a Sag Harbor Village police officer (4 years) and my brother, Sean, is currently doing work at the old Corra Maria site in Watermill. I miss the place dearly but always remember your paper. take care

Jeff Beyel
